I've had an open ended conversation about a mural since November 2016.  In December the family that I was coordinating with had a little tike come along to join the process (a baby was born mid pre-production). The discussion began again in March 2017. Plans, a collab, and a #sketch were put into #roughdrafrs on the #drawingtable the last 2 weeks of April. started a sketch @universal_souls caught the vision and re sketched it Painting went throughout all of May. We were able to coordinate one community workday to block-in shapes and colors. For the detailing and rendering n-between part-time work, holidays, and personal time, needing to go out, and coordinating/planning for a conference this June... Sometimes we get creatively stuck, kind of like writers block.  It's always good to take a blank canvas, an opportunity, and friends get away from the work/studio environment and just do something therapeutic. I was given the opportunity this past May to be a featured artist for the Urban Ocean Festival at the Aquarium of the Pacific down in Long Beach.  I had just the right amount of time to plan and do something well thought out and prepared.  BUT...life happens on the in between and several family emergencies occurred.  I took one day in May just to process it all, I had no plan, and I had no ideas.  I just wanted to face a blank canvas and see where my imagination, a different world would take me.  With the community surrounding, kids painting, other artist indulging, and aquarium volunteers/staff helping.  It was a good run.  That place of tranquility was found in an array of colors, and the thought of snorkeling/diving by the pier. ...

Since it's the end of the year we thought it would be nice to spruce up our church. A small team of us have been doing minor planning for the last month. We've split up small tasks for focus areas. But we each help each focus area with creative input, concepts, direction, and style. We've all agreed that the space needs to be an in between of hospitality warmth of living room and dens, but with a library science lounge feel. We began with the nursery. There are several families expecting, so we thought we would start here for the moms who need the extra rest, the tranquil space, and privacy. The idea is to have a joyful glowing, warm space. For the past 3 years I have been able to participate the the Urban Ocean Festival @ the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach.  The festival invites the community to learn and be educated about the conservation of our ocean.  Many non-profit organizations come out to create awareness of how we can keep our ocean clean through sustainability, and others teach us about the ocean, fishing, and pollution.   I was working as a master artist in partnership with the Aquarium of the Pacific and Art Mile Mural Project.Art Mile promotes global peace and harmony through mural painting.  Each time I volunteer with these two organization, I'm continually inspired..  It's also been an awesome experience to share with my fellow art friends, and to just be able to collaborate together.  The funniest thing I've seen and never get tired of  is that each time I volunteer I get to I see children break free of their fear to paint and get messy.  I lov...

This past December, my friend Kay and I decided to give a gift to Richmond High School.  (Kay's alma mater)  We both have been wanting to work together for a while. I thought that this wasn't going to happen. For many months, we both kept busy with work, and regular lifestyles.  And, the system was kind of hard to work through. So just as we both were going to step away, the doors opened up once more.  It was a great way to begin the Christmas cheer by being cheerful givers. Concept and  Execute : The key words we were given to work with in October were: Nutrition, Culture, and Diversity. We elaborated more and added wellness, and healthy pleasures of life to that vision.
